Introduction
Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) continues to challenge the boundaries of current applications in clinical practice, but as we anticipate new therapeutic roles in linear-array EUS, challenges remain in established diagnostic roles, especially in relation to pancreatic disease. With parallel advances in endoscopic and cross-sectional imaging, re-evaluation of the role of EUS in cancer staging is also necessary. Furthermore, quality and safety issues are increasingly being highlighted. A focused review of the important themes emerging from this year’s DDW meeting is presented here.
