Aerobic Epoxidation of Stilbene with Copper on FePt Nanowires

Significance

FePt nanowires deposited copper nanoparticles (FePt@Cu nanowires) were prepared by the treatment of FePt nanowires with Cu(acac)2 in oleylamine at 180 ˚C (eq. 1). FePt@Cu nanowires were characterized by TEM, XRD, EDS, and XPS analyses. EDS analysis showed that FePt@Cu nanowires contained about 47% copper. FePt@Cu nanowires catalyzed the epoxidation of trans-stilbene with molecular oxygen to afford trans-stilbene oxide in 85.1% yield (eq. 2). After the reaction, the catalyst was recovered by centrifugation and reused three times (3rd reuse: 78.8% yield).
