Significance
Extended polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were synthesized via Pd-catalyzed direct arylation of PAHs followed by FeCl3-mediated cyclodehydrogenation. Arylboroxins and o-chloranil as arylating reagents and an oxidant, respectively, were used for C-H bond arylation.
