With our traditional January Editorial and Editors' Choice,[1] we are delighted to welcome you in the New Year! May it be filled with fresh challenges and developments!

Along with our personal and scientific lives, we noted for the first time since 2020 that publications in 2023 clearly moved away from the pandemic scope.[1] While we were relieved to be able to live our lives “normally” again, and were excited to meet our community at meetings, we have learnt along the way. Our Editorial Meeting has now moved to a digital format, allowing more of our Section Editors around the world to take part at the same time and achieve a more productive outcome, while Elinor Switzer from the publisher's team was delighted to meet and catch up with you at the ISTH Thieme Booth last year ([Fig. 1]).
