Significance

Oxidized states of aza[14]meta­cyclophanes can be suitable candidates for toroidal molecular spin systems. However, oxidation of this sort of molecules can be irreversible and the cation generated decomposes. Modification of compound 1 with N-4-bromophenyl-dianisyl­amine is a useful strategy to stabilize the dication and tetracation of the presented molecule.
