Significance

Reported is a one-pot synthesis of tetraiodinated di(perylene bisimide) that combines Ullmann coupling, C-H transformation and halogen-exchange reactions. The tetrabrominated molecule can also be achieved by lowering the reaction temperature. The molecule has a distorted structure, which is confirmed by single-crystal X-ray structure analysis.
