Significance

Asymmetric desymmetrization is a well-known concept used in organic synthesis for the preparation of enantioenriched compounds. In this report, Kang and co-workers have shown that Cu(II)-1 complex can effectively produce tert-alkyl­amines with high yields and enantioselectivities. Considering the number of biologically and pharmaceutically significant molecules that possess quaternary nitrogen stereocenters, this methodology presents an important contribution to that area.
