As you have probably noticed, Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery is in the midst of significant changes.

In 2007, after devoting significant time and energy to nurturing the journal to its current preeminent position, Dr. Berish Strauch, Editor in Chief and founder of the journal, along with Dr. Lee Landres, chose to pass this responsibility to a younger generation: Dr. Peter Nelligan is the new Editor in Chief of the journal. As Publishers we are very aware of the need for regular renewal of journals' editorship, but it is nonetheless with great regret that we accepted Dr. Strauch's desire to retire from his position. We would like to take this opportunity to thank him once again for his tireless advocacy for, and editorial stewardship of, the journal.

As with any change in editorship, several evolutions of editorial policies follow. This editorial evolution will be described by Dr. Nelligan in a forth-coming editorial, but some practical changes have already been implemented, these are described below.

With immediate effect, the Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery will accept submissions exclusively online. This has several advantages in manuscript-tracking and efficiency-well-known to both authors and reviewers-leading to shortened review times and accelerated publication schedules.

Please note that henceforth all papers should be submitted to the following online site:

http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/jrm

Furthermore, this change has allowed us to systematically implement rapid online publication of all accepted articles through Thieme's eFirst [1] service. If necessary, articles can now be published within a few weeks of acceptance. Now all accepted manuscripts benefit from this service.
