Significance
Recently, the synthesis of phenylene oligomers for the generation of new materials received significant attention. Herein, the authors offer a novel convenient approach to the regioselective synthesis of hexaarylbenzenes, based on the carbonylative coupling reaction with the Collman reagent Na2[Fe(CO)4]. The regiospecificity of this synthesis is its great advantage, as it allows the completely regiocontrolled preparation of hexaarylbenzene oligomers with perspective properties.
