Summary

A case of prosthetic mitral valve thrombosis treated with streptokinase is described. The diagnosis was made and the treatment was monitored using Doppler ultrasound.

Doppler may be superior to other non invasive methods for this application because of its ability to grade the dysfunction more accurately and avoid bleeding complications associated with cardiac catheterization.
