Significance

Organofluorine compounds and in particular trifluoromethylated amino acids, 1,2-diamines and 1,2-amino alcohols are very important scaffolds in medicinal chemistry thanks to their broad range of biological properties (see book below). In the present paper, their syntheses from chiral trifluoromethyl imines or oxazolidines using a Strecker-type reaction are described.
