Significance

Optically active propargylamines are valuable synthons for the construction of useful molecules. This mild protocol is a nice method for the synthesis of these compounds in their optically enriched form. Importantly, the ligand is readily synthesized in one step from commercially available materials. Cu(OTf) is used as the catalyst. Aryl- and alkyl-substituted alkynes give moderate enantioselectivities.
