Microwave-Enhanced Coupling of Alkenyltrifluoroborates with Allyl Acetates

Significance

This method offers a straight­forward allylation of remarkably stable and easy-to-handle potassium alkenyltrifluoroborates with readily available allylic and cinnamyl acetates. Therefore, this is a simple route to 1,4-pentadienes, an important structural feature of many ­biologically active molecules. A relatively small amount (2 mol%) of a commercial Pd catalyst is required and the whole procedure is very practical. This is a good example of the application of the modern microwave technique for the formation of a new C-C carbon bond.
