The bromo-allylidenecyclopropane 6 has been prepared and has been found to form a [2+2]-cyclodimer upon bromine lithium exchange at -78°C/-90°C; the structure of the dimer has been proved by an X-ray structure analysis to be that of trans-7,8-bis-3′-(1,2-dihydronaphthalinyl)dispiro[2.0.2.2]octane (8).
