The direct synthesis of cyclic α-methylene carbonates from CO2 allows the access to optically active functional 4-hydroxy oxazolidin-2-ones by reaction with amino acids, to bis-oxazolidin-2-ones with ammonia, and to oxadiazin-2-ones with hydrazine.
