Saito-Myers Cyclization by Amine-Grafted Mesoporous Silica

Significance

The Saito-Myers cyclization of enediyne 1a (99% ee) proceeded in the presence of amine-grafted mesoporous silica (GA-SBA15; 20 mol%) to give 2a and 3a in 21% and 62% yield with 93% and 84% ee, respectively. The grafted silica was reused five times without loss of activity. A plausible reaction pathway is shown.
