Hydrogenation with Iron Nanoparticles Supported on CDG

Significance

Iron nanoparticles supported on chemically-derived graphene (Fe-NP/CDG) were prepared by mixing Fe(CO)5 and chemically-derived graphene (CDG) in the presence of diphenylmethane under sonication conditions (eq. 1). Fe-NP/CDG catalyzed the hydrogenation of al­kenes 1 or alkynes 2 to give the corresponding alkanes 3 in up to 100% yield (15 examples, eq. 2).
