Rhodium/Graphite for the Hydrogenation of Aromatic Compounds

Significance

Rhodium on graphite (Rh/Gr, C24Rh) was prepared with a view to using it for the hydrogenation of carbocyclic and heterocyclic ­aromatic compounds. Thus, the hydrogenation of aromatic compounds (1-2 mmol) was carried out in the presence of Rh/Gr to give the corresponding reduced products (21 examples). The Rh/Gr catalyst was recovered by filtration, and was reused three times with loss of catalytic activity.
