Abstract

The method described is applicable to aqueous incubates of Solatium fruits, as well as dried fruits, and involves in situ acid hydrolysis followed by estimation of the solasodine using an automated titration procedure under non-aqueous conditions. Factors affecting the accuracy are examined and discussed. The method is suitable for monitoring changes in solasodine yield resulting from changes in the conditions of aqueous incubation of plant material.
