Zusammenfassung

In zusammenführenden Studien senkte Schwarzkümmel das Gewicht, den erhöhten Nüchtern-Blutzucker und das glykierte Hämoglobin (HbA1c) und erhöhte die Ansprechbarkeit auf Insulin. Die Blutfette und der Blutdruck nahmen ab. Jetzt müssen Studien mit einem beweisenden Studiendesign die Wirkgrößen bei Typ-2-Diabetes, Hyperlipidämie und Bluthochdruck bestätigen und prüfen, ob Zubereitungen aus Schwarzkümmel das kardiovaskuläre Risiko senken. Vielversprechend sind die Ergebnisse der Studien bei Patienten mit rheumatoider Arthritis, Hashimoto-Thyreoiditis und Vitiligo, die Wirksamkeit bei Autoimmunerkrankungen demonstrieren. Studien bei Patienten mit Asthma bronchiale, Heuschnupfen und atopischem Ekzem weisen auf eine antiasthmatische und antiallergische Wirkung des Schwarzkümmel-Wirkstoffs hin. Durch die antibakterielle Wirkung lassen sich Antibiotika einsparen. Die Studienlage bei Nierensteinen, Organerkrankungen und toxischer Organschädigung, Arthrose, Kindern mit epileptischen Anfällen, Dyspepsie, klimakterischen Beschwerden, rezidivierender Mastalgie und neurodegenerativen Erkrankungen ist unzureichend. Die Tagesdosis beträgt bis zu 3 g Samen oder Samenöl. Die Verträglichkeit ist gut. Wechselwirkungen mit anderen Medikamenten sind nicht ausreichend untersucht.

Abstract

Black seed, a medical hint from the Bible. Part 2: Evidence of efficacy

In systematic reviews black seed (black cumin) decreased body weight, elevated fasting blood glucose, glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) and insulin resistance. Elevated blood lipids and blood pressure also improved. Clinical studies with a confirmatory study design are now required to define the effect sizes in diabetes type 2, hyperlipidaemia and hypertension and to prove the efficacy of black seed preparations in decreasing cardiovascular risk. The results of studies investigating black seed preparations in patients with autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, Hashimoto thyroiditis and vitiligo are very promising. Studies in patients suffering from asthma, allergic rhinitis and atopic dermatitis indicate anti-asthmatic and antiallergic effectiveness. Antibiotics may be saved due to the potent antibacterial activity of black seed. Other target groups include patients suffering from nephrolithiasis, organ diseases / toxic organ damages, arthrosis, dyspepsia, children with epilepsy, women with menopause complaints or recurrent mastalgia and patients with neurodegenerative diseases. The daily dose employed was up to 3 g of seeds or seed oil. Tolerability was excellent. Putative interactions with other medications need further evaluation.
