Significance

This method gives simple access to the preparation of various alkenylcyclopropanes, starting from readily available gem-dichlorocyclopropanes. This is a useful application of organo­titanium chemistry, allowing a one-pot creation of relatively complex carbon frameworks from simple starting materials. In most of the cases, the reaction proceeds with high diastereoselectivity.
