Significance

Polymer-supported oxo-vanadium Schiff bases were readily prepared through (i) Schiff base formation via dehydrative condensation of 4-aminobenzoic acid and salicylaldehyde, (ii) complexation of the Schiff base 1 with VO(acac)2 giving 2, (iii) PPh3-mediated amide formation of 2 with a polymeric azides (PS-N3 and MeO-PEG-N3). The oxidation of various sulfides with 3 or 4 afforded the corresponding sulfoxides in 74-97% yield.
