Significance

The development of asymmetric additions to Michael acceptors has matured to a state where many catalytic systems can effect this transformation with high enantioselectivity. The challenges now lie in achieving high catalyst efficiency. The new N,N,P-tridentate ligand reported forms a highly active Cu(II) catalyst that can be used at loadings as low as 0.1%.
