Significance

Cylindrospermopsin is a potent hepatotoxin that disrupts the translation process of protein synthesis by an unknown mechanism. Williams and co-workers devised a synthetic route to cyclindrospermopsin that relies on intramolecular nitrone 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition and reductive guanidinylation reactions.
