Significance

Dynamic kinetic resolution is a very useful method to access enantioenriched products. The authors use a cinchona-modified platinum catalyst that is able to racemize the starting material as well as preferentially hydrogenate the S-configured substrate, allowing for successful dynamic kinetic resolution. Many chiral cinchona compounds as well as a variety of solvents were tested. The hydrogen pressure effected the stereoselectivity with 0.1 MPa being optimal.
