Summary

The number of papers dealing with Passionflower herb, which have been published during the last years, shows the continuous importance of this medicinal plant. Besides numerous pharmacological studies - mainly from a research group from India - first clinical studies with monopreparations of Passiflorae herba have been performed. Several pharmacological studies point to a dose-dependent anxiolytic activity of Passionflower extracts. In first clinical studies in patients with general anxiety disorders, who received Passionflower monopreparations, very good results were achieved.
