Significance

Non-cross-linked polystyrene-supported triphenylarsine 1 and JandaJel-supported triphenylarsine 2 were prepared and used as ligands in the palladium-catalyzed homocoupling reaction of aryl halides and as a catalyst in olefin epoxiadation reaction. The homocoupling reaction of aryl bromides and iodides proceeded in the presence of Pd(OAc)2 and the polymer-supported triphenylarsines 1 and 2 to give the biaryls in 21-92% and 11-95% yields (eq. 1). The epoxidation of olefins with hydrogen peroxide took place in the presence of the polymer-supported triphenylarsine 2 to give the corresponding epoxides in 28-85% yields (eq. 2).
