Significance

Herein, a simple and general method for the preparation of 1,1-diarylhydrazines from Boc-diazoarenes (readily prepared from arylhydrazines) and easily available arylboronic acids is presented. Arylhydrazines are important intermediates for the synthesis of numerous biologically active compounds. The mild reaction conditions allow exploiting the high functional group tolerance of arylboronic acids to functional groups and broaden the reaction scope considerably. Monoarylhydrazines can be prepared by the same methodology from bis-tert-butyl diazodicarboxylate and arylboronic acids.
