Achieving White Light Emission from an Organic Polymer

Significance

The organic polymer shown above exhibits three distinct and simultaneous emissions at λ 445 nm (blue), 515 nm (green) and 624 nm (red) when it is incorporated into a single-layer device and an appropriate bias is applied. As a result of the simultaneous emission of red, green and blue light and carefully planned minimization of energy transfer and charge trapping, the polymer generates white light with three primary colors.
