Sharon G. Gregorcyk, M.D.

Dr. Sharon Gregorcyk is an Associate Professor of Surgery and a Colon and Rectal Surgeon in the Department of Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Sharon was born in Corpus Christi, TX, and received an MD degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. Her general surgery training was conducted at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA, and included a year of research in surgical oncology. She then completed a colon and rectal fellowship at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, LA. At the end of her fellowship in 1998, Sharon joined the surgical faculty at the University of Texas. She is board certified in General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery.

In Dallas, Sharon developed a busy clinical practice in which the evaluation and management of anal incontinence comprises a significant component. She is a recognized authority in intrarectal ultrasound and has served for several years as a faculty member for the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons' annual course in intrarectal ultrasound. She was recognized for outstanding achievement in resident and student teaching in 2000 and was named as one of 2000 notable American women in 2003. She is an active member of multiple professional societies and serves on several important committees of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. In addition to her clinical and teaching activities, Sharon remains an active researcher. She has produced a number of contributions to our literature and serves as a reviewer for several major surgical journals.

Sharon lives in Dallas, TX, and when not working, she enjoys travel with family and friends, playing with her dogs, renovating and finding antiques for her historic home, and attending wine tastings.
