Frakturen zu verhindern ist das Ziel jeder Osteoporosebehandlung und -prävention. Da mehr als 90 Prozent der nichtvertebralen Frakturen bei einem Sturz entstehen, gehört es zum Management der Osteoporose auch dazu, Stürze zu verhindern. Um hier erfolgreich zu sein, muss das Sturzrisiko des einzelnen Patienten quantifiziert und gezielt behandelt werden. Eine herkömmliche Nomenklatur spricht einseitig von “osteoporotischen” Frakturen und zählt neben den ertebralfrakturen die Frakturen von hüftnahem Femur, Unterarm und Oberarm als osteoporosebedingt auf. Die vorliegenden Daten verlangen eine Korrektur bzw. eine Ergänzung dieser Sichtweise.
