It is with great pleasure, pride, and expectation that we introduce a new journal into the orthopaedic peer-reviewed literature in orthopaedic surgery.

The Journal of Hip Surgery (JHIP) will publish and disseminate peer-reviewed articles to those in the medical field who perform hip surgery, those who care for patients requiring hip surgery, and to the institutions in which surgeons can perform state-of-the-art hip procedures. We hope that in doing so we can help advance patient care and outcomes. We feel that by sharing the knowledge of researchers, innovators, and thought leaders, we can advance the art and science of hip surgery.

We will publish articles related to all fields of hip surgery, including trauma, reconstruction, joint preservation, neoplasms, basic science, biomechanics, biomaterials, tribology, sports, pediatrics, metabolic disorders, and other relevant topics including complications, case reports, and meta-analyses. Each issue will include a special focus section on one particular topic, and information on upcoming sections will be made available on the journal homepage.

Our inaugural issue will focus on osteonecrosis of the hip, and we are pleased that Lynne C. Jones, PhD, and Michael A. Mont, MD, agreed to guest edit. Dr. Jones is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, Director of the Center for Osteonecrosis Research and Education at Johns Hopkins Medical University, President of Association Research Circulation Osseous, and current Secretary of the Orthopaedic Research Society. Dr. Mont is the Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Cleveland Clinic.
