Die bakterizide und gewebeauflösende Wirkung machen Natriumhypochlorit zu einer unabdingbaren Spüllösung bei der Wurzelkanalbehandlung. Aufgrund der Toxizität und der damit verbundenen Gefahr von Spülzwischenfällen bestehen jedoch oft Unsicherheit und Zurückhaltung in der Anwendung. Mit diesem Beitrag soll die Kenntnis zu dieser endodontischen Standardspüllösung vermittelt werden, damit Natriumhypochlorit sicher und effektiv bei der Wurzelkanalbehandlung eingesetzt werden kann.
