Significance

Rasta resin-DMAP 5 was prepared and used as a catalyst in the addition reaction of carbon dioxide to epoxides to afford cyclic carbonates. Thus, the reaction of epoxides 6 and carbon dioxide was carried out with 5 to give the cyclic carbonates 7 in 31-95% yield. The catalyst was highly stable and reused seven times without significant loss of catalytic activity (92-87%).
