Significance

Desymmetrization of meso-2-al­kene-1,4-diols is an important target in asymmetric synthesis. This paper described a clever pathway to achieve these targets by first asymmetric boryl substitution of meso substrates and second stereoselective allylation of another aldehyde. The utility in asymmetric synthesis is also presented.
