Significance
Mesoporous zinc sulfide nanospheres (MZNSS) were prepared by pyrolysis of Zn(OAc)2 and thiourea in the presence of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) (eq. 1). MZNSS catalyzed the reaction of aryl or benzyl nitriles with sodium azide to give the corresponding 5-substituted 1H-tetrazoles in 76 to >99% yield (10 examples, eq. 2).
