Significance

Isodomoic acids G and H were isolated from the red algae Chondria armata and belong to the family of neuroexitatory kainoid amino acids which are important research tools in neuroscience and medicinal chemistry. Notable steps in the syntheses are a carbonylative silylcarbacyclization and a silicon-based sp²-sp² coupling.
