Significance

An enantioselective generation of fluorinated quaternary stereogenic centers adjacent to tertiary stereocenters via a Michael reaction of fluorinated nucleophiles with nitroolefins is reported. High enantioselectivities were achieved with several aryl and alkyl nitrooelfins as Michael acceptor as well as different aryl ketones.
