Significance

The authors report the syntheses and solid-state architecture of various sulfur- and selenium-containing cyclophanes with alkyl bridges of various length. While cyclophanes with various functional groups on the aromatic component have been synthesized and studied, relatively few studies have been conducted on diversifying the nature of the bridge. This paper focuses on the syntheses and properties of cyclophanes with novel bridges.
