Fibula
Abstract
The fibula is a biomechanically sensitive structure that contributes two joints of the lower limb. It is part of stabilization mechanisms in the knee and the ankle. Therefore, it is essential to evaluate the surgical treatment necessary to reestablish biomechanical kinematics and to enhance early mobilization. In order to decide the correct surgical indication it is indispensable to know the morphology of the fracture, the patient’s characteristics and anatomy, concomitant diseases and the injury of the adjacent tissue.
