Letter to the Editor Regarding the Article “Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System in Diagnosing Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Diagnostic Performance and Interobserver Agreement” by Zhou and Collaborators
The low diagnostic prediction capacity of CEUS LR-M class for a specific tumor is not a problem but rather perhaps an advantageWe read with great interest the article by Zhou and collaborators about the interobserver agreement in CEUS LI-RADS classification published this year in Ultraschall in der Medizin (Zhou H. et al. Ultraschall in Med 2022 Feb; 43: 64–71). The study is well designed and well conducted, and the authors are to be commended for their valuable efforts. The results are relevant and in line with previous studies (Terzi E. et al. J Hepatol. 2018; 68: 485–492) (Schellhaas B. et al. Eur Radiol 2018; 28: 4252–4264) and show moderate to limited reproducibility in the assignment of CEUS LI-RADS classes, mainly due to differences in the determination of the timing and degree of washout and to a lesser extent also in the presence and patterns of arterial phase hyperenhancement.
