Introduction

Minimally invasive biopsy is playing an increasingly important role in diagnosing pediatric malignancy due to its excellent feasibility, low morbidity, and high accuracy [3], [8]. It has been postulated that minimally invasive techniques and, in particular, the use of CO2 for pneumoperitoneum, may have an impact on the behavior of macrophages, which are involved in clearing the peritoneal cavity from spilled tumor and other cells [7], and on the behavior of tumor cells themselves [9]. Port-site metastasis in childhood has only been described after resection of pulmonary metastasis of osteogenic sarcoma [10].
