After this paper was published, it was brought to the authors’ attention that a paper using similar reagents in a two-step procedure was published: ‘Unprecedented SnCl2-Mediated Cyclization of Nitro Arenes via N-N Bond Formation’(Sawant, D.; Kumar, R.; Maulik, P. R.; Kundu, B. Org. Lett. 2006, 8, 1525).
