Significance

In this report, Rowan, Weder, and coworkers present a sensor platform for the detection of metal-ion-coordinating analytes, especially organophosphates, which are commonly used in chemical-warfare agents. Control of the ligands’ electronic properties, careful choice of metals, and balancing of metal-ligand affinities enable the detection of trialkyl phosphates selectively over other common organic compounds.
