Abstract
After 15 years of clinical experience with the Gamma locking nail system, a new generation of smaller-diameter Gamma nails (Gamma3) was introduced in early 2004. This 3rd generation of Gamma implants and instruments has been developed to enable a minimally invasive surgical technique and to reduce operative time, without compromising the biomechanical strength and or increasing the incidence of cut-out compared to the Gamma nails used for the past 15 years.
