Duodenal Cystic Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor as a Rare Differential Diagnosis of a Pancreatic PseudocystPublication History

Abstract
Cystic gastrointestinal stromal tumors are rare and can mimick a pancreatic pseudocyst if the stomach or the duodenum are affected. A case of a 58 year old woman is reported. Amylase levels and radiological signs suggested an inflammatory pancreatic pseudocyst. At laparotomy with frozen sections a cystic GIST of the duodenum was diagnosed. Total resection of the tumor with partial resection of the duodenum was performed. The patient remained symptom-free for 24 months follow-up.
