Significance

Pd/C (Pd particle size: 5 nm, carbon surface area: 1100 m²g) with an electron-deficient phosphine ligand (4-FC6H4)3P catalyzed the Hiyama cross-coupling reaction of aryl halides 1 and aryltriethoxysilanes 2 to give the corresponding biaryl products 3 in up to 90% yield. A small amount of H2O mediated the reaction efficiency, while an excess amount of H2O rather retarded the reaction.
