Significance
Cyclopropenes are a highly versatile and sought-after synthon in both non-catalytic and transition-metal-catalyzed transformations. To this end, there has been a concerted effort by the synthetic community to access chiral cyclopropenes by direct and efficient means from readily available achiral starting materials. The authors report an asymmetric dirhodium-catalyzed transformation for the synthesis of chiral cyclopropenes from terminal alkynes and α-alkyl-α-diazoesters.
