Significance
Aminopropylated nanosilica particles (nano-NAP) catalyzed the Henry reaction of arene carboaldehydes 1 with nitroalkanes 2 (R² = H, Me) to give the corresponding nitrostyrenes 3 in 44-95% yield (8 examples). The catalyst was recovered by centrifugation and reused twice for the formation of 3a (1st reuse: 12 h, 81%; 2nd reuse: 16 h, 52%).
