Abstract

Aerial parts of Baccharis crispa Sprengel (Compositae) were partially investigated. The following substances were isolated from its n–hexane extract: 5–hydroxy–7,4'–dimethoxyflavone, 5,3'–dihydroxy–7,4'–dimethoxyflavone and two other compounds whose structures were not definitively established. One of them was isolated in high yields. This substance and 5,3'–dihydroxy–7,4'–dimethoxyflavone were present also in an aqueous extract and showed to be two of the three main spots in its chromatogram.
